Kaleidoscope is a meditation on movement, balance, and the beauty that emerges when fragments are brought into relationship with one another. The quilted wallhanging is structured, using a paper piecing method, around a central core of angled blocks that pivot and shift, anchoring the composition while simultaneously setting it in motion. From this center, radiant strips extend outward, creating a dynamic, centrifugal energy that pulls the viewer’s eye across the surface and back again.
The bold palette is not decorative alone; it is directional and emotional. The saturated hues push against the deep black segments, heightening contrast and giving the impression of vibration and rhythm. Like the childhood toy it references color, geometry, and rhythm invites viewers to consider how fragments can be rearranged into patterns that are vibrant, powerful, and endlessly renewing.  Quilting stitches further animate the surface, adding texture and reinforcing directionality.
